Zullo’s Apple Cider Doughnuts

Zullo's apple cider doughnuts at Green City Market.

Some things just seem to taste better when eaten in the right season. These warm apple cider doughnuts from Zullo’s stand at Green City Market hit the spot on chilly days as was the case on this bury-your-hands-inside-your-coat-pocket morning at Green City Market. Adriana Marzullo serves these diminutive orbs up fresh on the spot—that is, if you have the patience to wait in line behind others who know a good thing. The inspiration comes from her Italian grandmother’s recipe and the love comes through. The doughnuts strike a blissful balance of being crispy on the outside and satisfyingly chewy on the inside. And the sugar-cinnamon coating that complements the apple dough will leave you with sweet feelings for the rest of the day—no matter how low the temps go.

Go to the Green City Market and enjoy an order with a free ($1 donation) coffee on the park bench right across from the booth.
