Growing Power salad greens

During the winter, I’m not much of a salad eater. It’s not that I don’t like salads, but they often fail to appeal in the colder months. But come summer, I’m a changed woman. I crave fresh greens and buy salad every week at Green City Market. I have tried various lettuce mixes, but I’m a big fan of the one from Growing Power. What’s not to like about the interesting mix of various lettuces, watercress, sunflower sprouts, pea shoots, dandelion, amaranth, beet greens, baby swiss chard, spinach (and sometimes baby mustard greens when they have them)? How often do you find that sort of selection at your supermarket?

The greens are fresh and free of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. The mix is so full of flavor on its own it doesn’t need much more than a simple mustard or balsamic vinaigrette. And when you buy from Growing Power you support a nonprofit organization that supports people from diverse backgrounds and programs that provide healthy, affordable food to local communities. With reasons like these, this salad mix is a win-win for all.
